Panchratna dal recipe

Panch ratna dal is a good source of potassium, dietary fiber, protein, phosphorus, magnesium, copper, manganese, thiamin, vitamin B5, and an excellent source of selenium, vitamin D. It helps strengthen muscles and improve thyroid function.

Serves: 5 persons

Ingredients
Ghee clarified butter
2 Table Spoon
Bengal gram dal
30 Grams
Black gram dal
30 Grams
Green gram dal
30 Grams
Whole yellow lentil
30 Grams
Red gram dal
30 Grams
Tomato ripe local
50 Grams
Chillies green - all varieties
15 Grams
Coriander leaves
25 Grams
Onion small
50 Grams
Asafoetida
2 Grams
Cumin seeds
0.5 Tea Spoon
Turmeric powder
5 Grams
Salt
2.5 Grams
Water
200 Milliliter
Ginger garlic paste
1 Tea Spoon
Coriander powder
0.5 Tea Spoon
Instructions

Mix the dal
Now just whisk the dal slightly and pour it into the pan or kadhai. Mix well, add some water if needed, and cook on low flame for atleast 15 minutes. Adjust the consistency of dal.

Simmer and garnish
SImmer it for few minutes, once done garnish with chopped coriander leaves.

Soak the dals
Mix, pick, rinse several times the lentils and soak in water for 1-2 hours.

Pressure cook
In a pressure cooker, add the mix of lentils and pour some water, till the water level reaches above the level of lentils. Add salt and turmeric and pressure cook, till 3-4 whistles of the cooker.

Sautee the spices
Meanwhile in a frying pan or kadhai, pour ghee or oil and let it heat up. Add a pinch of asafoetida and some cumin seeds. Add chopped onion and tomatoes, green chilies, coriander powder, ginger garlic paste, saute well.
