What's the difference between Instinct 2 and Instinct 2X Solar?
The 2X has a larger 50 mm case, a solar charging lens, LED flashlight, and significantly longer battery life. The 2 is a lighter 45 mm without solar.
Does solar charging actually work?
Yes — given consistent direct sunlight (e.g. 3+ hours/day at max brightness), solar can push smartwatch mode past 40 days and expedition GPS beyond 60. Under normal indoor+outdoor wear, expect noticeable but modest extension.
What does the Tactical variant add?
Stealth mode (hides GPS position), kill-switch (wipes memory), night-vision goggle compatibility, dual-position GPS format, and jumpmaster calculator for military skydiving.
Can I take the Instinct 2 for a dive?
It's rated to 10 ATM which handles swimming and surface watersports. For recreational SCUBA, Garmin recommends a dedicated dive computer (e.g. Descent series).
Does it have a touchscreen?
No — the Instinct range uses physical buttons only. This is intentional: gloves-on operation, no accidental taps during training or expeditions.
