What does Tactical mode actually do on the watch?
Stealth mode disables all wireless (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, ANT+) and hides your GPS position from sync. Kill switch wipes the watch's memory. NVG mode dims the display so it's compatible with night-vision goggles.
Is it exclusive to uniformed services?
No. Anyone can buy and use the Tactical variant. It just adds features on top of the standard Instinct 3 — the civilian features remain fully functional.
Does it have a night-vision-compatible flashlight?
Yes — the LED has a red-light mode that preserves night vision. Combined with NVG mode for the display, it's usable without breaking dark adaptation.
Is this waterproof for military swims?
10 ATM water rating (100 m). Rated for swim, snorkel, and surface watersports. For recreational SCUBA, Garmin recommends a Descent-series dive computer.
Does Tactical affect battery life vs standard Instinct 3?
Identical battery performance to the non-Tactical Solar variants. Stealth mode actually extends battery life because wireless is disabled.
Can I turn off the tactical features if I don't need them?
Yes. Stealth, NVG, dual-grid, kill switch, and jumpmaster are all optional activity profiles or modes. Everyday use is identical to a standard Instinct 3.
