No — hardware is identical to the standard Instinct E at the same size. Electric Lime is a bolder colourway that stands out on the wrist; the bezel, straps, and display are all colour-matched.
What does Instinct E leave out vs Instinct 3?
No LED flashlight, no solar option, no multi-band GPS, no touchscreen, smaller battery, and no skin-temperature sensor. It's the cleanest way into the rugged Garmin range if you don't need those.
Is it rugged enough for trekking?
Yes. The MIL-STD-810 rating and 10 ATM water resistance are identical to the flagship Instinct 3. The hardware differences are display brightness and battery/sensors, not durability.
40 mm or 45 mm — which should I pick?
40 mm if your wrist is on the slimmer side (under 160 mm circumference). 45 mm if you want a bigger display and don't mind the weight. Battery life is identical.
Does it have Garmin Pay?
No — Garmin Pay is skipped on the E variant. If NFC payments matter, Instinct 3 or Vivoactive is a better pick.
Does it track sleep and HRV?
Yes. 24×7 heart rate, HRV status, sleep stages, sleep score, and Body Battery are all supported. These are the metrics Hint coaching uses most.
Can I control music from it?
