Gothambu Idli recipe

Gothambu Idli/Whole wheat idli is a good source of dietary fiber, protein, phosphorus, magnesium, copper, thiamin, niacin, pantothenic acid, and an excellent source of selenium, manganese, and vitamin D. HINT: It helps lower blood cholesterol and control blood sugar levels.

Cooking time: 15 minutes

Serves: 26 persons

Ingredients
Millled parboiled rice
120 Grams
Whole wheat
240 Grams
Black gram dal
120 Grams
Fenugreek seeds
1 Tea Spoon
Salt
0.5 Tea Spoon
Water
300 Milliliter
Instructions

Make the batter
Wash and soak urad dal and fenugreek seeds separately for 5 hours. Wash and soak rice and whole wheat in a bowl for 5 hours. Grind dal in a blender adding very little water at a time. Remove this to a bowl. In the same blender, add rice and wheat and grind till smooth. Add this to the urad dal, add salt and mix well till combined.

Ferment the batter
Cover and leave this to ferment for 8 hours or overnight. Now mix it gently.

Making Idli
Scoop the batter into an idli plate . Place in steamer and steam for 10-12 minutes on medium flame or till a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Serving
Finally, soft idlis are ready to serve along with chutney and sambar.
